THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL OF ZAMBIA

The government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Health (MoH) spearheads the provision of health services in Zambia. It is the major provider of healthcare services to the general public. With the introduction of the Health Professions Act, the Council has been given the mandate to register and regulate all Health Facilities in Zambia, both public and private and Training Institutions teaching health sciences.

The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) is a statutory regulatory body established under the Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009 of the Laws of Zambia. The functions of HPCZ as enshrined in the Act are as follows;

Call for Applications to Sit for the October/November 2024 Health Professions Council of Zambia Licensure Examinations

Examination Details: The Theory Examinations are scheduled to run from to 1st October 2024, followed by the Practical Examinations in November 2024.

Location: The Examinations will be conducted exclusively in Lusaka and Ndola. Please be informed that there will be no examinations held in Livingstone. Candidates are required to select either Ndola or Lusaka as their preferred examination center.

RENEWAL AND DOWNLOADING OF PRACTICING CERTIFICATES ONLINE TO ALL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS ON GOVERNMENT PMEC SYSTEM(ZAMBIANS AND NON-ZAMBIANS)

HPCZ would like to inform all Health Practitioners (Zambians and Non-Zambians) on the Government Payroll Management Establishment and Control (PMEC) System, that online renewal services is strictly for renewing, downloading and printing of practicing licences.

NOTICE TO ALL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS, HEALTH FACILITY MANAGERS, TRAINING INSTITUTIONS, STAKEHOLDERS AND GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE SUSPENSION OF FACE-TO-FACE INTERACTION WHEN CONDUCTING BUSINESS WITH THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL OF ZAMBIA

The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) is hereby informing all health practitioners, health facilities, training institutions, stakeholders and the general public that face-to face interaction with HPCZ staff at ALL its offices, when conducting all manner of business has with immediate effect from Monday 11th January 2021, been temporarily suspended until further notice. This measure has been inevitably necessitated in the wake of escalating second wave of Covid-19 cases as shared by the Ministry of Health (MoH) whose guidelines require action such as this one to curb the spread of the pandemic.
To this effect, business with the Council shall be conducted through the provided contact details as stated. Find provided below contact mobile phones, Electronic mails (E-mails), online web portal, social media platforms, website and contact staff for the provision of various necessary services:

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) wishes to inform the public that the following the closure of specific registers last year, HPCZ has no objection for any employer to engage practitioners from the listed registers below. Any institution requiring any expertise or skills of personnel in these fields, is at liberty to do so at their own terms, conditions and standards.

The following are the Registers being referred to:

  1. Laboratory Scientists (BSC in Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Biotechnology).
  2. Science Laboratory Technologists (Diploma in Laboratory Science).
  3. Health Promotion Officers (BSC Environmental Education).
  4. Health Promotion Technologists (Diploma in Environmental Education).

These professionals posses the necessary scientific qualifications and are expected to operate in the environment suitable for their training, including Health Facilities. However, it is important to note that their training falls outside the regulatory scope of the HPCZ mandate. Consequently, they are not subject to registration as Health Practitioners under the HPCZ.
